Video: Robotic System for Picking, Placing & Crimping Spray Pumps On Cosmetics Bottles - Farason Corp.

FANUC America Authorized System Integrator Farason Corporation developed this robotic system to pick, place and crimp spray pumps onto cosmetics bottles at incredibly fast rates of 70-80 bottles per minute. The system starts as full, uncapped bottles are fed into the Bottle Crimping and Depucking System. The fast and compact FANUC LR Mate 200iD Robot picks pumps two-at-a-time out of a starwheel and places them into the bottles. An inspection camera takes a picture of the bottles to verify that the pumps have been properly placed. A pair of pump crimpers extends down and crimps the pumps onto the bottles while they are held in place. Collars are then pressed onto the bottles. The final inspection station uses sensors to detect the presence of the pumps and collars on the bottles. At the end of the process sits a second LR Mate 200iD Robot, which picks the bottles two-at-a-time and places them onto an outbound conveyor, and the bottles are fed to a downstream machine. Through the use of robotics and automation, this system not only completes the task rapidly, but with excellent accuracy and repeatability - producing a high-quality product for Farason’s highly satisfied customer.
