Pietarsaaren Vesi is a municipally-owned utility that carries the responsibility of ensuring uninterrupted wastewater treatment for the population of city of Pietarsaari, a small community of around 20,000 people on the west coast of Finland. Around 80% of the area's wastewater flows through one main pumping station, making it an absolutely crucial focal point in the process. It was here that the company retrofitted five existing variable speed drives (VSD’s) to ABB’s water dedicated ACQ580 VSD. The built-in pump functionalities in the ACQ580 VSD ensure reliable operation of five submersible pumps. This way nobody gets problems with wastewater.
