In this video, Dean Anderson introduces the Bluetooth connectivity capabilities of the F3SG light curtains from Omron Automation.
The new Bluetooth transceivers offer a convenient, wireless option for programming the F3SG-RA global safety light curtains.
These modules can reduce downtime when a program change is required.
The plug-in Bluetooth transceiver unit is available in two versions. The model F39-BT is a Bluetooth transceiver only. The model F39-BT LP incorporates a 3 color status indicator lamp with the Bluetooth transceiver.
Either unit can be plugged into the top of the F3SG-4RA light curtain receiver.
The Bluetooth transceiver allows you to wirelessly connect with the F3SG-RA Global Light Curtain and start programming with the SD Manager 2 software.
To Install the Bluetooth module:
• 1st Verify that the Dip switches on the Bluetooth module are in the factory default settings as shown on the instruction sheet.
• Dip switch 1 should be in the “ON” position and dip switch 2 should be in the “OFF” position.
• Next, Make sure the F3SG-RA is powered off
• Remove the cap or muting lamp module if so equipped
• Please note that a spacer plate is provided with the Bluetooth module to securely position the module to the end of the light curtain body.
• Secure the module in place by tightening the screw provided
If you are using the Bluetooth module for monitoring purposes only, this completes the installation.
• If you are using the Bluetooth module to change the configuration of the light curtain via the SD Manager 2 software, then verify the dip switch #8 located inside the dip switch cover on the light curtain receiver is set to the “ON” position.

Complete the set up by enabling the Bluetooth function of the device you are using to run the SD Manager 2 software. Complete the installation by pairing the communication of the Bluetooth unit with the device running the SD Manager 2 software.
