Omron F3SG Anti Chatter Void Prevention Muting using F3W-MA Muting Sensors

Go on line with the light curtain. 2. Select “Log In” button on the top of the window to bring up the Log In window. 3. Select Administrator radio button and enter password. If no password has been entered previously or the unit is just opened from the factory the default password is 0000. Then select the “OK’ button to close the window. 4. Select the “Recovery” button to execute factory default procedure. To default the light curtain back to factory defaults, select the “Reset to Factory Default Settings” button. Verify the procedure was complete by looking at the bottom of the window and it should state “Tool success to recovery sensor setting”. 5. Select “Top page” button at the top of the window to go back to the main page. 6. Select “Muting/Override” button under the Function Setting area of the software. This will get you into the Muting/Override window. 7. Verify that the Muting enable radio button is enabled. 8. Using the “Muting Mode” pull down select “Exit-Only Muting” function (This is the only option that can be demonstrated using the F3W-MA Muting Actuators). 9. Select “Teach in” radio button. 10. Set object into light curtain area and select “Confirm Zone” to set the number of beams being blocked by the light curtain. 11. Select “Top page” button at the top of the window to go back to the main page. 12. Select “Lamp Setting” button of the software. This will get you into the Lamp Setting window. 13. Set Auxiliary Output for the following: Output Operation Mode = Muting/Override Information Inverted signal output = Disable Output pattern = ON 1 time 14. Set Lamp Output Red (Priority 1) for the following: Output Operation Mode = Safety output information Inverted signal output = Enable Output pattern = Solid-ON 15. Set Lamp Output Orange (Priority 2) for the following: Output Operation Mode = Muting/Override Information Inverted signal output = Disable Output pattern = ON-1 time 16. Set Lamp Output Green (Priority 3) for the following: Output Operation Mode = Safety output information Inverted signal output = Disable Output pattern = Solid-ON 17. Select the “Write configuration” button to write the settings to the light curtain. This will bring up a write configuration window. To initiate the write select the “Write” button. Settings will then transfer to the light curtain. 18. To activate the light curtain you can go to the “Monitor “ button on the top of the page or cycle power to the unit. 19. Verify dip switches 2 and 3 are in the OFF position in the receiver portion of the F3W muting sensor. 20. Test object to see and prove to the customer that under normal condition (Anti-Chatter function off) that normal sensors will trip the light curtain. 21. Turn OFF power to the light curtain. Turn ON dip switch # 2 to set the light curtain “Chattering/void space prevention mode 1” option ON. Turn ON power to the light curtain. 22. Using the same object in step number 14 test and prove to the customer that the “Chattering/void space prevention mode 1” option does in fact work to prevent the light curtain from tripping. If the voids in the object are large, you may want to use the OFF delay function in combination with the Chattering/void space prevention to prevent the light curtain from tripping. The higher the OFF delay the larger the voids can be. Software is only needed to set the light curtain in “Exit only muting” mode. You can use Chattering/void space prevention in conjunction with Dynamic Muting or regular muting, which ever one you prefer.

If you need to change this make sure to select “Confirm Zone” button. 11. Select “Dynamic muting” enable radio button. 12. Set “Measurement time” to 1.0 sec. using the slider bar. 13. If you choose to change the “Number of Allowable Beam selection, use the pull down to do so. 14. Select “Top page” button at the top of the window to go back to the main page. 15. Select “Lamp Setting” button of the software. This will get you into the Lamp Setting window. 16. Set Auxiliary Output for the following: Output Operation Mode = Muting/Override Information Inverted signal output = Disable Output pattern = ON 1 time 17. Set Lamp Output Red (Priority 1) for the following: Output Operation Mode = Safety output information Inverted signal output = Enable Output pattern = Solid-ON 18. Settings will then transfer to the light curtain. 21. To activate the light curtain you can go to the “Monitor “ button on the top of the page or cycle power to the unit. 22. Test the system by moving various height objects thru the muting sensors the light curtain should turn on the muting lamp indicating the light curtain is in a muting condition and the objects should then be allowed to pass thru the light curtain without tripping the output. 23. If you send an object that gets larger in size as it passes thru the light curtain the output should then trip.

OMRON F3SG Light Curtain Getting On Line and Factory Reset Using SD Manager2 Software

Plug the F39-GIF into the receiver portion of the light curtain. 2. Plug the UBS portion into the USB of your PC. 3. Turn power off to the light curtain. 4. Set Dip Switch # 2 on both SW1 and SW2 to the ON position. Make sure not to set the dip switches with power ON. 5. Turn power on to the light curtain. 6. Open SD Manager 2 software. 7. If the driver is loaded correctly you should see a COM port in the upper left hand corner pull down. If not select the “Auto Scan” button the software will scan the USB ports to locate the plugged in cable. If the cable is found it should appear in the pulldown. 8. Select the “OK” button to go on line. 9. Select “Log In” button on the top of the window to bring up the Log In window. Verify that it is safe to put the light curtain in programming mode. 10. Select Administrator radio button and enter password. If no password has been entered previously or the unit is just opened from the factory the default password is 0000. Then select the “OK’ button to close the window. 11. If a previous program is loaded you would want to upload these settings to the attached PC. Select “Read Configuration” button. Setting the light curtain back to factory default: 1. Select the “Recovery” button to execute factory default procedure. To default the light curtain back to factory defaults, select the “Reset to Factory Default Settings” button. Verify the procedure was complete by looking at the bottom of the window and it should state “Tool success to recovery sensor setting”. 2. Select “Top page” button at the top of the window to go back to the main page. Downloading the program: 1. Select “Write Configuration” button. A write configuration window will appear. Anything in Yellow indicates it is changed from factory default. OMRON F3SG Light Curtain Floating Blanking Using SD Manager2 Software

Set dip Switch # 8 of both SW1 and SW2 on the receiver to the ON position. 2. Go on line with the light curtain. 3. Set the light curtain to factory default. Select “Floating blanking” button under the Function Setting area of the software. This will get you into the Floating Blanking window. 5. Select “Enable” radio button in the upper right hand corner of the window to enable Floating Blanking. 6. Clicking the “Zone Adjustment” button automatically adjusts the blanking zone when it is not set proper. 7. Select the “Floating blanking monitoring” function for the application: ______ A. “Lockout” (Default) light curtain output is turned off if object is removed. To reset the curtain you can turn on the reset input or cycle power. B. “Disable monitoring” allows the object to be removed and placed back into the sensing area without tripping the output. C. “Cancel blanking zone” light curtain output is turned off if object is removed. To reset the curtain you need to cycle power. _____ 8. If you choose to use the “Temporarily disable monitoring” this allows the use of muting inputs to temporarily disable the monitoring for a predetermined amount of time. If using the “Temporarily disable monitoring” set the amount of time allowed for the object to be removed without tripping the output. This option can only be used if a single set of light curtains are used. You can’t use this feature if series connection is used for the application. 9. Select the “Number of floating beams” blocked by the object. 10. Select the “Number of allowable beams” the object can go less in size without tripping the output. 11. Select the “Write configuration” button to write the settings to the light curtain. This will bring up a write configuration window. To initiate the write select the “Write” button. Settings will then transfer to the light curtain. 12. To activate the light curtain you can go to the “Monitor “ button on the top of the page or cycle power to the unit. Make sure you have the object in the sensing area before going to the monitor mode so you do not trip the output of the light curtain. 13. This also allows changing the Fixed Blanking Monitoring Function and Allowable Beam selection as well: 1. Select “Manual” radio button to enter the manual setting mode. 2. Use the pull down of the “Top Beam” and select the number for the top beam that is blocked, or use the Designate from chart option to change the beam as well. 3. Use the pull down of the “Bottom Beam” and select the number for the bottom beam that is blocked, or use the Designate from chart option to change the beam as well. 4. Select “Confirm Zone” button to save the configured settings within the software. This should then fill the number of beams selected under the Fixed Beam chart on the bottom of the main chart in yellow. If more zones are needed to be configured go to the top and select the next Blanking Zone Number and repeat steps 2 thru 4 for the next set. You have the ability to select 3 zones per light curtain. B. Setting by Teach-in setting if the numbers of the beams blocked are unknown and the object is blocking the beams: 1. Select “Teach-in” radio button to enter the teach-in setting mode. This should activate the main chart and indicate which beams are presently blocked. 2. If everything looks good select “Confirm Zone” to save the configured settings within the software. This should then fill the number of beams selected under the Fixed Beam chart on the bottom of the main chart in yellow. ____ 9. Select the “Fixed Blanking monitoring” option using the pull down. a. “Lockout” (Default) light curtain output is turned off if object is removed. To reset the curtain you can turn on the reset input or cycle power. b. “Disable monitoring” allows the object to be removed and placed back into the sensing area without tripping the output. c. “Blanking Zone Cancellation” light curtain output is turned off if object is removed. To reset the curtain you need to cycle power. 10. Select the number of “Allowable Upper and Lower beams” by using the pull downs. 11. Select “Top page” button to go back to the main page. 12. If you used Setting by Teach-in option you will need to Select “Log In” button on the top of the window to bring up the Log In window. If you did Setting by Manual option jump to step 14. 13. Select Administrator radio button and enter password. If no password has been entered previously or the unit is just opened from the factory the default password is 0000. Then select the “OK’ button to close the window. 14. Select the “Write configuration” button to write the settings to the light curtain. This will bring up a write configuration window. To initiate the write select the “Write” button. Settings will then transfer to the light curtain. 15. To activate the light curtain you can go to the “Monitor “ button on the top of the page or cycle power to the unit. 16. Select the number of beams to be used. With the smaller length light curtain it is better demonstrated using 3 beams. 10. Select the “Write configuration” button to write the settings to the light curtain. This will bring up a write configuration window. To initiate the write select the “Write” button. Settings will then transfer to the light curtain. 11. To activate the light curtain you can go to the “Monitor “ button on the top of the page or cycle power to the unit. 12. Select “Warning Zone” button under the Function Setting area of the software. This will get you into the Warning Zone window. 7. Using the Warning Zone pull down select ether “Enable from Upper” or “Enable from Lower” in the upper right hand corner. ______ A. Setting by Manual setting if the numbers of the beams used in the warning zone are known and the object is present or not present: 1. Select “Manual” radio button to enter the manual setting mode. 2. Use the pull down of the “Top Beam” or “Bottom Beam” depending on enable from upper or lower selection above and select the number of the beams to be used in the warning zone. You can also use the designate from chart option for this step. 3. Select “Confirm Zone” button to save the configured settings. This should then fill the number of beams selected under the Warning Zone chart on the bottom of the main chart in RED. B.Setting by Teach-in setting if the numbers of the beams blocked are unknown and the object is blocking the beams: 1. Select “Teach-in” radio button to enter the teach-in setting mode. This should activate the main chart and indicate which beams are presently blocked. 2. If everything looks good select “Confirm Zone” to save the configured settings in the software. This should then fill the number of beams selected under the Warning Zone chart on the bottom of the main chart in RED. ________ 8. Select “Top page” button at the top of the window to go back to the main page. 9. Select “Lamp Setting” button under the Function Setting area of the software. This will get you into the Lamp Setting window. 10. Under the Auxiliary Output area use the pull down for Output Operation Mode and select Warning Zone information. This will switch the Muting Lamp on the demo to indicate a Warning Zone infraction. 11. Select the “Write configuration” button to write the settings to the light curtain. This will bring up a write configuration window. To initiate the write select the “Write” button. Settings will then transfer to the light curtain. 12. To activate the light curtain you can go to the “Monitor “ button on the top of the page or cycle power to the unit. 13. Test the system by moving an object into the warning zone and see if the Muting/Warning Zone indicator lights. You can use the warning zone in conjunction with Fixed Blanking, Floating Blanking, Muting but you do need to make sure the zones do not overlap; otherwise you will get an error in the software. So if these functions are needing to be used together set these zones first and then set up the warning zone after that making sure they do not overlap. Select ether “Normal” or “Slow” radio button. 6. Select the “Write configuration” button to write the settings to the light curtain. This will bring up a write configuration window. To initiate the write select the “Write” button. Settings will then transfer to the light curtain. 7. To activate the light curtain you can go to the “Monitor “ button on the top of the page or cycle power to the unit. 8.
